  1. There are plenty of concept cars,

eg the lexus 2050 from minority report http;//www.evuk.co.uk

(this could be a real car today, but Lexus won't sell)

looks are fashion. which is unpredicatable and has little relationship to the technology required post-fossil fuel and 9bn human population, and general shortages of metals, water, crops (for food or fuel)...

there will be no spare energy fo aircraft.

  2. Frying pans.

As resources get scarcer cars will become a luxury, most of the cars will be recycled and used for more useful things, like frying pans.

  3. About like an half-egg which is the most aerodynamical form... with the longest part in the back to reduce the drag from the low-pressure area.

Other solution: we do not have roads anymore which allow such high speeds or the energy required for in which case we can deviate a little from this shape.

It is highly thinkable that stained glasses with adjustable lightthroughput will be the standard in order to reduce the need for AC. The outside paint might be a plastic with photovoltaic properties in order to reduce the need for energy  while driving.

The car powered on fuel cells (maybe reversable ones) will be connected to the grid to partly recharge energy when available and otherwise feed into the grid.

  4. smaller, sound like a RC car.strong shell, and will have alot of defects in the design.

  5. they'll look the same except they'll have more gadgets.

  6. Near future:

-I think cars within the next several years will be pieces of expensive junk than costs several thousand dollars to fix the simplest of thing. They will look pretty and have all the trinkets and gadgets, but cost a lot to maintain to the point where people own then for just a few years wasting their whole entire salary maintaining them.

    Far-Distant Future:

    - I think cars will be small and aerodynamic like they are now, but built like tanks with no plastic or weak metal in them. They will be soo strong, durable and the engines will have such endurance, that they will last for well over 100 years and still be almost like new (without getting in a crash). They will have relatively no gadgets in them and be soo easy to maintain, that a child will be able to fix the engine and transmission if it breaks from having relatively no wires and very little components kind of like the Wankel rotary engine. I see ALL car and truck ENGINES worldwide being Diesel and having heaters in them for cold climate cranking getting no worse than 40MPG (highway/city combined) in any vehicle. My 1984 MB got 40mpg on the highway, so I see no car getting worse than that. Oh and if there are hybrid cars/trucks, I think they will be just as simple in design and to maintain also having diesel engines in them.

In the future, people will want to drive cars merely for transportation, and not practically live in them, like today. The only things cars TODAY are missing is a kitchen and restroom.

Oh and there will be no flying cars. It is already illegal to fly a helicopter from your own big back yard or anywhere else but an airport, maybe hospital top. Flying cars are impractical anyways, as soon as the engine/engines dies HAHAHAHAHA well... so do you, man that is just so funny! People do the simplest of things like running a stop sign, what do you people think if they got behind the wheel of a flying car, cars would be falling from the sky left and right.

  7. probably much safer than they are now, with the engine underneath the front and passenger seats. The dream is to have hydrogen powered cars, too.

  8. flying

  9. like hovercrafts-thatd be so cool:)

  10. Given the upsurge of ugly cars being produced in recent years (Scions, hybrids, Pontiac Aztek...and many, many more), I'd suspect that the car of the future will be very offensive to the eye.

Hey, but who care, right? It can play your future-version-of-an-ipod. That's really all the masses care about in a car these days.
