  1. last I heard it was a 4 with the possiblity of getting worse. I beleive Katrina was a 4 but I'm not sure

  2. It's a 4. My good friend just evacuated her family and she heard on the radio today that it'll be worse than Katrina.

Here's the page I've been watching:

    http://www.weather.com/newscenter/hurric...

  3. Gustav is currently a cat 4. It will become a cat 5 before hitting land as a 3 or 4. Katrina, they say was a cat 3 when it hit land. I think.

  4. Its a 4 right now but they said its quickly growing into a five. Its fxcked up cause the red cross in my county was broken into last night and someone stole EVERYTHING they had to help these ppl and they were schedualed to leave tonight...its sad...this world is ungrateful

  5. it is a four. with winds that are 140. once it is out of cuba it will get to a catagory five with 155 winds and possibly slow down to a very strong four again when it hits louisiana. katrina was a three when it hit new orleans. the reason new orleans got it so bad was because all three levees broke. so gustav is WAY worse than rita we have contraflow starting tomorrow morning at 4 am and ending at hopefully 12 am. manditory evacutions for all or most gulf coast parishes jindal canceled all schools all over the state for tuesday and i think wednesday. please pray for us.

the bad thing about it is that our marshes are basically gone and so are our things that protect us so not only is the hurricane worse than rita and katrina, our land is worse off so we have less protection. and everyone are just starting to settle back into their houses.

  6. Nope, information on the National Hurricane Center's website will tell you that it's currently a category 3 hurricane. people are saying it's a 4, but that's what it's going to be, not what it currently is.

  7. It was cat 4 last I heard... it might reach 5 some meteoroligists say.  Katrina was a 4 but this is not supposed to hit New Orleans directly.

SO that will help but the city is going to take some hits.

  8. its a catagory 3 over cuba it will become 4 over the gulf of mexico and return to a cat 3 as it approaches land either side of new orleans corpus christy and tampa florida its said to streatch almost 1000 miles wide no bodey knows the catagory while its over the sea but it can increase to a 5 until it is buffered by land air streams back down to 4/3 or even 2 after 48 hrs the media will feel obliged to add on 1or 2 catagories for thier own ends and so will the mayers and governers of new orleans e.c.t. to justify an evacuation. just bin case

  9. Gustav hit Cuba, and now is approaching the U.S. as a category 5 and will hit land as a category 4.

  10. Katrina made landfall as a Catagory 4 near New Orleans accoring to National Geographics website.

But windspeeds in New Orleans were that of a strong Cat 3 or weak cat 4

Gustave is currently a Catagory 3 with sustained winds of 115mph with some strengthening possible before it makes landfall

  11. I also just heard it was category 4 with the possibility of becoming a 5. I feel deep sadness for anyone who has been, or will be in the path of this hurricane. It must be devastating to go through something like this.

  12. yea but it is almost a 5

  13. i think its still a strong 4, its supposed to be a 5, but settle back to a 4 and land as a 4.  katrina got to a 5, but landed as a 3
