I developed some underneath bumps with some pimples on my right cheek in June. It started to get bigger and redder over time. Was on chinese herbal medicine as detox for two weeks, spread over to my white cheeks and left temple area. I no longer have big red bumps but both cheeks are reddish with small red bumps that are rash like looking. They used to be itchy and stinging at times but not anymore.

Dermatologist only diagnosed me as a category of acne and does not know what really caused this since I did not have any acne problem being 22 year old. She only told me it is not uncommon that people developed huge breakout during certain point in their life. I am just curious as what this type of acne would be considered as, mild or moderate?

I am starting to take doxycycline so I don't know if this means seroius or severe.

  1. Perhaps you have Papular acne.

Papules are the pimples every women know and hates'. Painful or Itchy, inflamed pink or red bumps that develop when a clogged pore gets infected with a bacteria. :>

  2. The doxycycline will take care of the bacteria that is causing this problem but as far as severity it should be considered moderate.  In a case of severe cystic acne something like acutane would be perscribed.

  3. Moderate type of acne and quite common at the age of 22 years. No need to worry.
