  1. usally acid rain is caused by poloution, it doesnt have to be in the same place of the poloution because most of the time the acidic substances are blown and sometimes can be blown over 100km.


  2. NOx and SOx (pronounced nox and sox, cute sounding aren't they?) Basically nitrogen and sulfur oxides (the x can be 1,2 or 3) that result from many industrial processes. Poor pollution control will result in these oxides escaping into the atmosphere. The oxides combine with water in the atmosphere to form HNO3 and H2SO3.

    I'm not sure which Queenstown you refer to but if your talking about Tasmania then it was mining.
