  1. Pure communism as a societal theory is innately flawed and will always result in failure.

    However, modified and refined aspects of communist ideas can be successfully implemented in other forms of government.


  2. too much interference by the communist party. wrong feedback gien by local  officials to beijing led to wrong decisions being made.  local officials were implementing mao's policies without rationality.  starvation resulted. cannibalism ensued.  too much concentration on agriculture and then industries.  this led to haphazard planning.  natural disasters augmented it.  drought / famine.  mao evaded blame and withdrew fr public view until he made tt famous yangtze swim later.
