Question:

What causes Kinoki foot pads to change color?

For those who do not know, these foot pads are an adhesive "Detox" system that is supposed to somehow remove toxins from your body through the bottoms of your feet as you sleep. The obvious flaw is that even if they removed toxins transdermaly, the bottoms of your feet would be a horrible place to use them because of the low amount of blood flow and thick callouses most feet have. they however claim that it is based on the Japanese art of reflexology and that your feet somehow are supposed to somehow act like the roots of a tree.

Anyway, what they claim is their indication of proof is that the pads will turn dark with initial uses. This dark grime is supposed to be the various toxins they removed, and is too dark to just be the dirt pulled from the feet. Then with later uses, they stop changing color, indicating that you are now free of toxins.

My sister swears by these things, but I cannot shake the feeling that she is wasting money on a scam. If I can explain this color change, she is likely to see it as a scam as well. Can anyone help?

  1. I would bet they are a scam. Why don't you try this one time. Put a wide piece of adhesive tape, white, and put it on your foot one night. Bet you get the same results. It will pull the dirt and grime from your feet, and they will probably sweat a little, and the chemicals from your body, no telling what all is there, will change the color of what ever sweats out. I do however believe in pressure points on the feet and hands and literally most parts of your body including the head and hands. But foot pads that draw from within the body, sorry. Just my opinion. Good luck to you sir.

  2. I'm curious about these things too. I believe in  them cause the asian ppl have all the health secrets!

  3. They're a scam.  They simply contain a substance that darkens after exposure to your skin/sweat.  From what I've heard, they eventually stop changing colour, because the outer layer containing the darkening substance gets worn off.
