  1. Caused by a loyalty or attraction to one group of people while holding those outside of that group to be of lesser value.

The patriotic group will die for their cause (whatever that may represent)... and if you don't join them in their general views, you're declared an enemy of that group... or enemy of "the state".

  2. I suppose it comes from people who felt the need to divide themselves from others.  It's possible that some point along the chain of early hunters and gatherers, it would make sense that some people eventually got into arguments and separated.  Rather than feel despair over loss of individuals, maybe people developed a "we don't need them anyway" kind of attitude.  This broadened into "you're either with us or against us", etc.  I don't know, that's just my guess.

  3. it comes from years and years of propaganda from our families and our communities.  it creates the neccesary conditions for profitable adventures at home and abroad.  How?  i would guess it's easier that way...complacency and conformity.

    good question:)

  4. Personally, my patriotism comes from my grandmother. I was brought up to be proud of my nation and my roots. So it's pretty deep set!
