  1. The nose is a part of the body that is very rich in blood vessels (vascular) and is situated in a vulnerable position on the face. As a result, any trauma to the face can cause bleeding which may be profuse. Nosebleeds can occur spontaneously when the nasal membranes dry out, crust, and crack, as is common in dry climates, or during the winter months when the air is dry and warm from household heaters. People are more susceptible if they are taking medications that prevent normal blood clotting (Coumadin, warfarin, aspirin, or any anti-inflammatory medication). Other predisposing factors include infection, trauma, allergic and non-allergic rhinitis, hypertension, alcohol abuse, and inherited bleeding problems.

  2. A good uppercut or a nice left hook to the nose....works everytime.

  3. If you get bloody noses, check your blood pressure. The problem is, you also have tiny capillaries in your brain too, and bloody nose might be a lucky indication of an impending stroke.

  4. I get bloody noses all the time. just a few days ago i asked this question also.it stopped now because i tried something new. my nose got dry. if this is your problem you should put Vaseline up your nose before you go to bed and when you wake up. with a q-tip.

  5. There are many causes for a bloody nose.  Check out my source ("Epistaxis" is the medical word for "nosebleed.")  Here are some:

    * Chemical inhalant

    * Inflammatory reaction (eg. acute respiratory tract infections, chronic sinusitis, allergic rhinitis and environmental irritants)

    * Foreign bodies

    * Trauma (usually a sharp blow to the face)

    * Low relative humidity of air breathed occurring especially during winter seasons.

    * Allergies

    "Nosebleeds are due to the rupture of a blood vessel within the richly perfused nasal mucosa . Rupture may be spontaneous or initiated by trauma."
