  1. gravitational forces between the earth and the moon .

  2. High tides and low tides are both caused by the moons gravitational pull on the Earth.

    It works like this...

gravitational pull of the moon depends on distance from the moon.

The side of the earth closest to the moon is pulled harder than the middle of the earth, and the side facing away from the moon is pulled less than the middle.

Consequently the ocean gets pulled towards the moon on the moon-facing side, but the earth gets pulled towards the moon too, so on the opposite side of the earth, the ocean also bulges. SO there are two bulges. The places on earth pointing directly towards the moon and pointing directly away have high tide, the places perpendicular to them have low tides. Meanwhile, the earth rotates, so the place on earth that has a high tide now, will have low tide in 6 hrs and so on.

  3. what causes it is the gravity of the mooon and sun.

  4. its the gravitational pull of the moon!

when the moon is aligned in a specific way with earth u have high tide!

bcuz the water is pulled to the gravity of the moon!

and when the moon is far then u have low tide bcuz only the gravity of earth is working on the water!

    goodluck!
