What causes a person to believe they are better than anyone else? ?

Why do some feel they have better things, are smarter & overall just a superior person?

The main reason for this is the person's EGO.

That is called  egomania or megalomania.  In my lifetime,

I have found it to be a very common malady.

  I have just distanced myself from a former person that

I really wanted to be a real friend to, but she is so into

herself that I can't find any normal level of friendship.

  It's always her hair/her clothes/her apt./ her possessions/

her car, on and on.

  She does not understand the important things in life.

No matter what the conversation is about, she always

turns it back around to herself.

  I got tired of playing the game and just gave up.

Now she can wear somebody else out.

it can be several things.

-the way your parents brought you up.

-feelings of insecurity

-just the fact that u had better opportunities than someone might make u feel more entitled to certain things in life

-the way the media has portrayed the "posh" from the average joes.

I think the media has alot to do with it and the way we were brought up as kids.

it doesn't seem to bother me anymore when someone thinks they are better than me. it has no effect at all on my confidence

because in truth, they aren't. :] so they feel the need to be.  sorry for being so simple, but its the truth.
