  1. When lots of dolphins play duck duck goose.

  2. I think it is safe to say, the same mechanism as the tornado? except for low pressure of occurs! :) ... you could look it up in Wikipedia! I highly dot that they reach the ocean floor, because they are really deep! and just by looking at the radius of one typical whirlpool you could imagine your spinning coffee after you stare it and see that it would need to be so big you would have a hard time seeing the other side!! so it would reach an ocean floor! that doesn't just happen in nature! but in general to get one you need a spinning currents of different temperatures really close together so that they would try and spread the heat in that rapid rate! so I think that it is safe to say this just happens between currents near the suffice of the sea and not with the cool deep waters? But again I would check it out cause I would ...

  3. The interaction between rising and falling tides can sometimes produce giant rotating currents,or whirlpools with strong downdrafts.Famous whirlpools include Mael storm off the coast of Norway and Charybdis between southern Italy and Sicily.A similar type of rotating current, known as vortex, is produced where a deep, narrow channel occurs near a coast.

A whirlpool with strong downdraft may touch the sea floor. However,it is not exactly known.
