  1. Demand for their skill or products drops.

Actual workers decline and machine take over.

    Over technology that replace jobs.

Countries with unhealthy population growth don't have a young generation to take over labor. Thus it is normally outsourced.

Product becomes obsolete. i.e. Beta or even pretty much VHS

  2. Workforce is governed by supply and demand.. There is a very delicate balance which creates and reduces both..Industries rise and fall on the making of money..Businesses are geared to do just that.. Today in America, we are witnessing the export of  American jobs to foreign shores, strictly for profit.. And then, products  imported back into America at a cheaper price..Eliminating the jobs, formerly held by Americans..That can be done for quite a while, but eventually, the sales market, is destroyed ,because eventually, the displaced workers can't  afford to buy the imported cheaper products, because they no longer have jobs or money to buy  any products..So industry, must be responsible.. And when they are not Governments  must  step in and  protect  its citizens and the jobs  as to promote an environment  conducive to a healthy worker  business  climate..The declining  state of America's economy  is tied to the greed and  lack of workers protections  given away to big business  here in the United States,, which  big business has acquired by buying the government  thru  business  lobbyists...You  will wittiness this throughout the country for the next two years, and maybe far beyond  that..                                 SOLOMON

  3. Most people know that the work force in Motor city has declined and some have moved away. The biggest reasons are all about cars and competition. Parts and whole cars are now made elsewhere for other companies and Americans buy Toyotas and other brands because they are designed to be longer lasting and get more miles to the gallon. Unions got stronger and high wages made the motor city car unable to compete. If there will be a new fuel operated engine the workforce could recover. So I guess it is all about good design or poor design of a product. World wars did allow Motor city to become great as the needs were different back then. So we can say there are many causes to the decline.
