in stomach, the gastric juice secretion takes place which consist of gastric acid etc. among them there is also the secretion of HCl from the oxyntic cells.... when the concentration this gastric HCl increases then the acidity took place. this need to be balanced by taking some of the antacid.

Enzymes in the stomach work best in acidic conditions, thus the stomach has to be acidic. The acid is hydrochloric acid {HCl} released by the Oxyntic cells in the stomach. This acid released causes the stomach to be acidic.

                          Our body have slightly alkaline PH,this is very very essential for normal metabolic activities.(slight alterations does not cause any harm).This neutral PH is maintained mainly by excretary system.(Acid Base balance).

                         If any altarations or distrubenses in excretary system cause Acid Base imbalances,if acid compounds are accumilated,that leads to acedemea (Low PH) or if basic compounds are accumilated that leads to alkemea (high PH).

                         Marority of enzymes have optimum activity at neutral PH,imbalances in acid base causes harmful effects in different metabolic activities altimatly this leads to death.
