We learned it last year in Physic. Science but I forgot.

  1. wind patterns

  2. The winds cause waves on the surface of the ocean (and on lakes). The wind transfers some of its energy to the water, through friction between the air molecules and the water molecules. Stronger winds (like storm surges) cause larger waves.

  3. The moon.

  4. While the wind can cause ripples, and a good storm can throw up some waves, most wave action during calm weather is NOT caused by wind. Continuous ocean waves are caused by the moon creating the tides.

Tsunamis, massive ocean waves, are caused by undersea earthquakes.

  5. th gravity of the moon

  6. The moon-lunar gravity

  7. The moon's gravitational pull on the Earth.

  8. moon believe me

  9. YEAH YOU FORGOT THAT'S CAUSE WHEN MRS. CICCO TALKS YOU PASS NOTES TO ME! ahahahahahahahahaha

It's caused by the gravitational pull of the moon, Bekki dear. We learned this ALL in class but no, you never listened. LOL

  10. It starts with the wind causing ripples far out at sea, then they increase in size since their moving without any real interference through the water.  The moon causes tides.

  11. lunar activity from the moon

  12. wind

  13. Uhhhh how about the wind???? and maybe, uplifts in the ground causing collision in the water making waves???

  14. several things contribute to waves....all waves are not equal either....

underwater "events"  (earthquakes, land slides, volcano eruptions) can set up / send out  waves

    the moon' s  pull

currents like the Gulf Stream meeting slower moving waters

    wind

    storms

  15. Wind. People who say it's the moon have no idea. The moon causes tidal movements, not waves. Blow on the surface of a bowl of water and you will see waves form. Waves form exactly like this at sea but they have 100's to 1000's of miles to build up.

  16. "An ocean wave is the undulation (rising and falling movement) of the sea surface and is usually caused by winds. Waves are "born" (generated) in the fetch area (where wind and water interact) and travel across the sea until their "death" (collapse) as breakers on some distant shore. You might call this the life cycle of a wave. The wind and the water were and are its parents.

The highest part of the wave is called the "crest." The lowest part of the wave is called the "trough." Waves can be described by their: height, wave-length, and wave period. The wave-height is the vertical distance from the crest to the trough. The wavelength is the horizontal distance between the crest of one wave and the crest of the successive (next) wave. "

  17. the moon's gravitational pull

  18. it's the water trying to escape from the sea but it always get pulled back in

  19. The moon causes tides.  Normal waves are caused by wind blowing over the surface of the water.

  20. moon.. wind
