What causes blossom rot on tomatoes???

my mom's tomatoes have blossem rot i was woundering what causes it?

  1. Defiantly lack of calcium is the most common reason.  The above suggestions work well, for immediate help I know you can buy liquid calcium supplements that you can mix with water and just spray your tomato plant with.  The name of the one I have used is called Nutrical.  I'm sure there are other brands as well.


  2. The plants aren't getting enough calcium....you might have to add that to the soil.

  3. An uneven balance in the way the plants are watered.

  4. Calcium or the lack of is one cause.  Uneven watering is another.  And the uneven watering can actually cause the low calcium level in the plant.

    Easy ways to add calcium to your soil are put crushed egg shells around your tomato plants.  Or you can add them to your compost.  Or you can add a light sprinkle of garden lime in the spring before you plant.
