  1. ANY time a egine sensor doesn't read what the pcm(computer) needs to see, it will trip the light. When the light is on the car will drive in limp or fault mode. This will allow you to drive it, put performance and economy is greatly reduced. You need to take it to a shop and have the thing scanned and checked for what codes are set and why they are set. Good luck

  2. Something is breaking down, or wearing out.   What?  Did they tell you your car would last forever?  Not so.  Just like you get cavities, lose hair, grow finger nails/toes ...so to does your car move from perfection of newness.  It is called maintenance.  The light is on because there is something wrong in the engine compartment.  Get it checked by a mechanic.   The lights are not there for your amusement.

Manufacturers were holding back on putting in the mechanical arms that would "slap you silly" or "put you in a choke hold" until the work was done.   Or a voice that sounded like your mother-in-law "Check me, for I am about to blow up"

  3. many different things can make that go on have a diagnostics test done or hook up a code reader to find out could be somethin as simple as changing your air filter

  4. Sam thing as in any other make/model... Some engine component is not working right and needs to be repaired or replaced.

It's an indicator that you have to take the car to a mechanic, who, for around $100 will connect a plug to your car underneath the dashboard, which through a wire goes to a computer, which in turn will spit out a code that will tell the mechanic what is wrong with the vehicle. Could a sensor, a valve or any other thing the car's computer was designed to warn you about.

In my personal experience it sometimes means diddly, because whenever I put gas at a specific gas station in my neighborhood that light comes on, if I gas up elsewhere the light never comes on, I suspect there is something in the gas that does not agree with my car.

  5. Low level of engine oil is the cause.Top it up immediately and then take it to the garage to check for leaks.

  6. I have a 94 Town Car. The engine light always comes on after a mile or two. I am told it is usually an emissions sensor problem, however, I have always passed NV smog checks, get good mileage, and have no other problems. And, mechanics, from Ford to the local guy, can't figure it out. So I live with it.

  7. Anything wrong with the engine that isn't be addressed.  If you don't get whatever the problem is fixed, you are going to find yourself with a dead car.
