  1. ghost books, movies, stories (told to them by the babysitter, older sibling, or parent), etc.

i made it up just because i didn't want to go to bed and it kept my dad in the room a little bit longer

  2. depends on how it is told...it has to be in a scary way...when my son was newly 3 he LOVED sleeping in his closet in the dar...he had soooo much fun and it made me happy that he found something cool like that too enjoy...until my 8yr old adopted brother ruined it...one day they were playing upstairs together and he scared my son...that night my son was SCREAMING that there was a moster in his closet and that it was going to murder him with a knife...I was sooo pissed and it made me cry cause he just killed my sons fun place...I just had to talk to my son and tell him that it wasn't true and that his "Uncle" was just being a meanie and not to listen to him.......so ever since then I watch movies with my son and explain to him that its fake and that its just make-up and costumes and computer graphics...right now we are watching The Mummy Returns and he is enjoying it! Never had anymore instances like that one time and he just turned 4

  3. Most of the time movies and what they're watching, but I got air freshener and told them it scares the''Monsters'' away and it worked so hopefully that will work( ;     good luck

  4. Childhood is a time of exploration, imagination and also a time when we don't really have an understanding of or explanation for many apects of the world around us.  Most of us (even sometimes as adults) fear the dark at our backs.  It represents the unknown, and after all, evolutionarily, the dark at your back might very well contain something that might consider you a nice meal.  At some point kids start to realize that there is evil in the world (for lack of a better term) and that bad things can happen, and those realizations, along with the inability to put them in perspective or to understand causation often leads to those sort of fears.

My kids have gone through that same thing, and little helpers like night lights, Official Parent Checks of Suspicious Spaces  (OPCSS) can help ease that anxiety.  Moreover, my eldest boy took to sleeping with a dart gun in his bed, loaded with a "magick" dart that he had helped annoint with blessing oil.  Night lights and magick charms or whatever that the kids help create can really help empower them.  OPCSS, on the other hand, helps show them how much we care for them (and meeting their emotional needs that way is important, too).

    Good luck!

  5. movies, stories, tv, told by their school mates mostly. (did i just say school mates?!) also because its a dark area, and you cant see whats in there.

  6. Ok, Sometimes he may hear stuff about it...Maybe at school, home, playground, etc; All you have to do is say there is no monster,if she/he doesnt buy into it,get a can/bottle of air freshener and spray room, hide label and say its monster killer(or whatever you may want to use) if child(ren)dont buy into it get vacuum suck monster out then take out bag and squish so the monster can't get out!If that doesnt work...get a cup/jar fill with green jell-o and put bubble gum or chocolate chip eyes, and say I caught the monster then say..he turned in to goo!Next day let child eat the (goo)!Hope this helps!

  7. An older brother-lol. I know that a lot of what is viewed on TV can affect that. Stories from other kids.

  8. Ha Ha, i dont know. But when do they get over it? my daughter is 11, she use to like BRAT dolls and we got her this big cardboard cut out of her fav. character a few years ago. She has since grown out of the BRAT stage but cant seem to get rid of the cut out, she says its cause shes afraid it will come back to get her. Im not sure if shes kidding or not. i still have to close the closet doors for her and my son every night. I dont have to check under the bed anymore. Youd be suprised kids talk. maybe they spread there little monster under the bed stories to one another. Who Knows. Good Luck in you search for the ANSWER.

  9. The Number One Reason, I Think Is Because In The Dark The Shadows Can Form Very Scary Shapes And Figures So My Advice Is Tell Him That There Are No Monsters Because There Is A Monster Buster That Gets Rid Of All Of The Monsters Around You And It Protects Him Or Something Aliong Those Lines. You Can Also Just Get A Night Light. When It Comes To Monsters It Helps Because In Movies And Stuff MonstersDon't Come Out When There Is Light.
