Water getting into the lungs. The victim feels tired,weak and  has difficulting breathing. He must immediately seek medical help, as any delay may lead to death.

Dry drowning is caused from the lungs' inability to extract oxygen from the air. Usually it's because of inhaling any gas other than oxygen (like helium) for too long or because of muscular paralysis affecting the diaphragm. Laryngospasms (muscular spasms limiting inhaling while allowing exhaling to continue normally; caused by detection of foreign fluids in the trachea) when diving can also cause this.

Dry drowning can occur hours after someone has gone swimming.  The water can actually destroy what keeps the lungs open, and able to work.  So the lungs 'close' and in turn the air supply is cut off.  And you suffocate, or drown because it was from water.

Scary! But very very rare.
