I have enlarged red blood cells but i'm not anaemic and I'm not a big drinker. Also my thyroid is okay! I am suffering from pain under my rib cage on both sides and around my back... any ideas?? I'm going for an ultrasound wednesday.

  1. It's called Macrocytosis and doesn't always cause an issue, it's most likely picked up on routine blood work. Sometimes it can be an indication of liver issues, Folate deficiency and Vitamin B-12 deficiency. Wait and see what your results of your scan are.. Alcoholism can be a common cause, but you said your not really a big drinker, so this is unlikely. Rather than it being an actual disease, it's more like a symptom/indication of sometimes other issues. I'll star this for my virtual bf Dr Frank, although I haven't seen him today, he may pick this up
