  1. Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid-twentieth century, and its projected continuation.

    What we can do -

Whenever you save energy--or use it more efficiently--you reduce the demand for gasoline, oil, coal, and natural gas. Less burning of these fossil fuels means lower emissions of carbon dioxide, the major contributor to global warming. Right now the U.S. releases about 40,000 pounds of carbon dioxide per person each year. If we can reduce energy use enough to lower greenhouse gas emissions by about 2% a year, in ten years we will "lose" about 7000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions per person.

Here are 20 simple steps that can help cut your annual emissions of carbon dioxide by thousands of pounds. The carbon dioxide reduction shown for each action is an average saving

    HOME APPLIANCES

Run your dishwasher only with a full load. Use the energy-saving setting to dry the dishes. Don't use heat when drying.

Carbon dioxide reduction: 200 pounds a year.

Wash clothes in warm or cold water, not hot.

Carbon dioxide reduction (for two loads a week): up to 500 pounds a year.

Turn down your water heater thermostat; 120 degrees is usually hot enough.

Carbon dioxide reduction (for each 10- degree adjustment): 500 pounds a year.

    HOME HEATING AND COOLING

Don't overheat or overcool rooms. Adjust your thermostat (lower in winter, higher in summer).

Carbon dioxide reduction (for each 2-degree adjustment): about 500 pounds a year.

Clean or replace air filters as recommended. Cleaning a dirty air conditioner filter can save 5% of the energy used.

Carbon dioxide reduction: About 175 pounds a year.

    SMALL INVESTMENTS THAT PAY OFF

Buy energy-efficient compact fluorescent bulbs for your most-used lights.

Carbon dioxide reduction (by replacing one frequently used bulb): about 500 pounds a year.

Wrap your water heater in an insulating jacket.

Carbon dioxide reduction: Up to 1000 pounds a year.

Install low-flow shower heads to use less hot water.

Carbon dioxide reduction: Up to 300 pounds a year.

Caulk and weatherstrip around doors and windows to plug air leaks.

Carbon dioxide reduction: Up to 1000 pounds a year.

Ask your utility company for a home energy audit to find out where your home is poorly insulated or energy-inefficient.

Carbon dioxide reduction: Potentially, thousands of pounds a year.

    GETTING AROUND

Whenever possible, walk, bike, carpool or use mass transit.

Carbon dioxide reduction (for every gallon of gasoline you save): 20 pounds.

When you buy a car, choose one that gets good gas mileage.

Carbon dioxide reduction (if your new car gets 10 mpg more than your old one): about 2500 pounds a year.

    REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE

Reduce waste: Buy minimally packaged goods; choose reusable products over disposable ones; recycle.

Carbon dioxide reduction (if you cut down your garbage by 25%): 1000 pounds a year.

If your car has an air conditioner, make sure its coolant is recycled whenever you have it serviced.

Equivalent carbon dioxide reduction: Thousands of pounds.

    HOME IMPROVEMENTS

Insulate your walls and ceilings; this can save about 25% of home heating bills.

Carbon dioxide reduction: Up to 2000 pounds a year.

If you need to replace your windows, install the best energy-saving models.

Carbon dioxide reduction: Up to 10,000 pounds a year.

Plant trees next to your home and paint your home a light color if you live in a warm climate, or a dark color in a cold climate.

Carbon dioxide reduction: About 5000 pounds a year.

As you replace home appliances, select the most energy-efficient models.

Carbon dioxide reduction (if you replace your old refrigerator with an efficient model): 3000 pounds a year.

    SCHOOLS, BUSINESS, AND COMMUNITIES

Reduce waste and promote energy-efficient measures at your school or workplace. Work in your community to set up recycling programs.

Carbon dioxide reduction (for every pound of office paper recycled): 4 pounds.

Be informed about environmental issues. Keep track of candidates' voting records and write or call to express concerns.

Carbon dioxide reduction (if we vote to raise U.S. auto fuel efficiency): Billions of pounds.

  2. Global warming doesnt exist! GASP. If you put ice into a glass it melts and gets faster as it gets smaller. Same with the polar ice caps. The Earth goes through weather paterns all the time.!¿

  3. Even if we can say exactly what causes it, we can not say that we can stop it.

We can remove human made causes, but when earth has not had human made causes in the past, it has none the less continued to warm up until the oceans warm up enough to support creation of the next great ice age.

The conclusion I am suggesting here is that if we stop human produced causes of global warming, it will still be just a toss up as to whether we will stop global warming.

If we wait long to stop our human contribution, we can be assured that we will not stop the global warming cycle. It is not even inconceivable that we may have passed the tipping point already.

  4. well what causes it is well.... us i mean we use cars to get everywhere and burn fire which is not better because it goes up into the atmosphere and going to the ozon layer which is making it smaller so more sun light can get in. thats bad! well how we can stop it is we can walk or ride a bike, recycle, and well just spot using up gas.

  5. stop cutting trees and useing cars

  6. Cut down the number of humans and use our technologies more efficiently and make society more sustainable in it's resource use.

  7. Okay folks..some of you anyway, Please stop drinking the Kool-Aid..The SUN causes 'global warming'..and 'global cooling'..Weather Happens..first hot then cold..ad so on..If CO2 continues to thrive in our atmosphere, the plants will love it..feed more people...animals will love it..more Oxygen O2 for them...AGW is just a way to make a few people very rich..

  8. causes: burning plastic materials, aerosol sprays...

    - plant more trees, and proper waste disposal...

  9. Global warming is a cycle that the Earth has, you go into an ice age, then the globe has to warm to come out of the ice age, as the ice melts the salt content of the ocean changes, changing the currents, and eventually hey you have global cooling, AKA the next ice age.  Humans have a minimal effect on global warming, if you want one of the major sources of pollution look at volcanoes.  The human effect to the extent that you constantly hear about on the news is made up to help the media get better ratings.

  10. A lot of things that constitute to the effect of global warming. One main cause is the technology upgrade like the driers of washing machines, air conditioned use in cars, the use of hair driers etc. In which damage our ozone layer the one who traps heat from the sun. that causes a lot of bad effects to our weather to us, as well.

  11. Okay here is the truth but you won't like it. This is what is causing Global Warming it is crack pots that are looking for a means to line their pockets and have power. They are lying to you and everyone that will listen that the earth is getting warmer when the facts are it isn't. It is getting cooler and we are likely going into another ice age.  Check out the facts take a close look at things for yourself not what you are being told by everybody else. The ones that have come up with this are getting their first info from their computer models and the models are flawed.

  12. look up an inconvenient truth or watch the movie!!!!

there is some really interesting information, and that should solve all your questions:]

    here is the site: http://www.climatecrisis.net/

here are some facts as well:

The vast majority of scientists agree that global warming is real, it’s already happening and that it is the result of our activities and not a natural occurrence.

The number of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes has almost doubled in the last 30 years.

Malaria has spread to higher altitudes in places like the Colombian Andes, 7,000 feet above sea level.

The flow of ice from glaciers in Greenland has more than doubled over the past decade.

At least 279 species of plants and animals are already responding to global warming, moving closer to the poles.

Deaths from global warming will double in just 25 years -- to 300,000 people a year.

Global sea levels could rise by more than 20 feet with the loss of shelf ice in Greenland and Antarctica, devastating coastal areas worldwide.

Heat waves will be more frequent and more intense.

Droughts and wildfires will occur more often.

The Arctic Ocean could be ice free in summer by 2050.

More than a million species worldwide could be driven to extinction by 2050.

  13. believe it or not the largest user of energy are buildings. We can cut back on the use of fossil fuels that cause global warming  by building more efficient heating and cooling systems for buildings or orienting teh buildings to use natural heating and cooling of thier surroundings also. In existing housing and buildings make them more efficient users of energy in every way possible, better insulation, better materials for roofing and siding.

Newer appliances are much much more effecient, some becuase of new laws. Buy energy efficient appliances and plant trees around your house you will be amazed at how much cooler the house will be as the tree grows taller.

  14. Theres no global warming even the evil ones call it climate change now theyve been found out....& we do have natural cycles.

Any one tempted to believe in the tripe being spouted (by those filling their bank accounts) need to open thei eyes.

Everyone should make the effort to do a SEARCH on HAARP, GWEN TOWERS & CHEMTRAILS.

Check out what the scientists are getting brave enough to now tell us. They risk their lives & their livelihood to do this.

Just look at all the aspects of life

affected by these manipulated weather conditions.

Population control = Worldwide starvation & more money making WARS.

Look into the costs to individuals

& how people are being priced out of their homes & know that the UN has intended to take ALL privately owned land since its conception.

It cost billions of dollars to build technology to create conditions to convince the public there is global warming/climate change & its going to take billions of $ to cure something that doesnt exist in reality.

    Wake up world.

These NWOrder Globals base ALL their lies on a truth which is why they have gotten away with so much for so long.

It is a truth that there is Climate CHANGE....It changes all day everyday.

It is a truth that (abnormal) Climate Change is man created

    (manipulated....by them)

Another truth is: that it has been these same NWOrder madmen who have CRIMINALLY cut down most of the worlds sources of oxygen, [the atmospheres greatest balancing factor] (forrests & blamed this on public greed, not their own)

Dont take peoples word for both sides of the argument you could change Your life & the world by doing your own research.

But if you dont know what you are talking about & you're just parroting what you are told to think...PLEASE at least SHUT YOUR MOUTH.
