What causes itchy long red bumps where clothing meet body?

I've just moved to a new place and been sleeping on an air mattress on the floor. My clothes have been living out of a suitcase on the floor for some time too. In the evening or the next morning, I see a long (1-1.5in) raised itchy bump along clothing lines (waistband of pants, edges of underwear). They're long thin and look a bit like mosquito bites. What's causing them? Are they living in my new home? and if so, how do I get rid of them, whatever it is?

I've recently gotten furniture so clothing has been transferred to drawers instead of the suitcase on the floor. I'm hoping I haven't transferred whatever it is to the drawers as well.

  1. alergies?

  2. it could be anything. but get your carpet washed/steamed. you'll have to more furniture around but hey, at least you know then its not coming from the carpet.

  3. Did your mother never tell you, "Don't let the bed bugs bite?"

I'd have thought it was due to sweat.  If you're a more heavyset person, skin irritation is rather common in areas where the thighs rub together, or where sweat accumulates

  4. it may be mites, fleas, or simply just spiders, I strongly suggest you have your carpets washed immediately, which would most likely get rid of your problem.

  5. house could have fleas in it from the previous owner

  6. Are you a resident of the East Coast or South? You are describing "Chiggers". I have heard of them getting indoors before but have little experience with them (aside from a really itchy one) since I live on the West Coast.

Its best to keep the site clean and use a topical antihistamine for the itching.

I would not really be of any help if I did not at least suggest a fix, I know Boric Acid can dehumidify carpet in areas with ticks. I am certain a pest control expert in your area should have a solution.
