I have asked the local Nissan service centre to fix the problem, but they have continually failed. They said some nonsense about it being the catalytic converter at one stage and have never been able to properly explain what is causing it. Language barrier problems aren't helping.

  1. How heavy is the ticking, and does it vary with RPM? In neutral or not? That'll narrow it down. Then with a stethoscope, listen to the ticking from various parts of engine will tell you where it's coming from.

    Worst case: crankshaft itself.

  2. my answer is try to check it out on auto repair shop in your area..
