Question:

What causes my acoustic guitar to buzz?

I've seen plenty of these questions, but it's not specifically what I'm looking at. When I strum my guitar it sounds like the screws in the guitar are shaking. Is it because of my strings? My sister gave me this guitar, I'm not sure where she got it, but it's Ashbury. I've seen those around in stores like Wal-Mart and Zellers so I don't trust it much. Is it just because the guitar itself is crappy, or the strings? I don't know what it is, but please help.

  1. Fret Buzz is the result of BAD TECHNIQUE or CHEAP GUITAR or BOTH.

$100 guitars ALL have fret buzz.

  2. There is a bee in it! Moth

  3. Hi

That is probably a bracing inside the guitar that is loose on the harmony table. If you put your hand lightly on the top of the guitar where the hold is when you hear that buzz, then their is a bracing that is unglued and vibrating against it.

Last resort, the strings are too old and are vibrating against the frets. This is more noticable on the 5th and 6th string only.

  4. On a inexpensive instrument, the  tuning pegs don't always go through a bushing on the peg head.  sometimes as shiny washer is glued onto the surface, instead. Perhaps there is something buzzing, there.

Strings are strings, pretty much.  Cheap ones won't last as long, or feel as good as expensive ones, but they don't buzz on their own accord.

    good luck.
