What causes my television to have little white lines at the top of the television?

its about 3 inches at the top of the screen full of little white lines? then the rest is perfect picture

  1. You probably need a new fuse for your tv. You can get it from any drug store or hardware store.

If you are using a high definition source --Cable box---satellite receiver-- you might find that when watching some programs they may not want to fill the whole screen.  Sometimes it will be a specific channel that will do this.  If the lines (dashes) are across the top of the picture--not IN the picture--then what you are seeing is the data stream carrying audio/channel information/ and second audio information.  The fault usually lies with the source of the original transmission as they should have blanked it out.  Cable co's and Sat co's just rebroadcast what they are sent.   I've seen it happen most often with local digital stations transmitting to Dish customers.

  3. well it depends on what type of tv it is if tis an older crt screen it could be the tube going bad if its an lcd or plasma it could be dead pixels can't really help with that info need more
