  1. CFC stands for chlorofluorocarbons.  This could be something like CFCl2CF3.  There are many types.

    These molecules get broken by sunlight high in the atmosphere and the fragments are called free radicals (CFCl2*)  These free radicals have an unpaired electron so they are very reactive but they are stable enough to hang around a long time before finding a free electron.  When a free radical touches an ozone molecule (also very reactive) the ozone gets decomposed but the free radical remains and can keep on decomposing more ozone.  So, a single free radical can destroy a lot of ozone.  A little CFC goes a long way.
