  1. if you mean  near or far sighted  that would be the shape of your eye.

  2. Many many things can cause poor eye vision.

Prolonged exposure to UV light (the sun).

Constant watching a stationary object so your eye muscles weaken (tv computer etc...)

Having high contrast of light (bright thing in very dark room).

Swimming in pools with no goggles.

    Poor lighting.

    Genetics.

    Those are only a few.

    To prevent poor eye vision.

Wear sun glasses. Make sure when reading, watching tv, using the computer to take breaks and exercise your eyes. Be in a well lighted consistent room. Protect your eyes. Humans naturally sleep in the dark for a reason.

  3. If you do a lot of close-up work (computer, reading, etc), the lens in your eye becomes "fixed" in a taught position. This is the main cause of myopia (short-sightedness). You will then be prescribed glasses or contact lenses, which allow your eyes to become lazy and deteriorate over time. Then it is a downward spiral.

It can also be caused by the changing shape of the eyeball, ageing, and various other causes. But the example above is the most common cause in young people. You can combat it naturally with eye exercises. My eyes have improve by 1 whole diopter in each eye in 7 weeks with this program: http://www.rebuildyourvision.com/cmd.php...
