No matter how much I clean my toilet or how many different clorox tabs I put in the tank..this brown line forms everyday with hours! What the freak is causing this? What can I do to fix it rather than having to clean it every couple of hours?

  1. It's the minerals in the water and is worse in some loctions than others. The best way to keep it down is to clean it every other day.

  2. Hi ,Your rubber gaskets in the tank are disintergrating, cause the ring around the bowel.Take the lid off the tank and rub your hand over the washers,YES! You could replace them or install new toilet.Good Luck

  3. The evaporation of water deposits minerals at the water line.  A leaking toilet does not affect the line.  You can slow down the evaporation by keeping the lid closed.  When you clean the bowl with bleach you whiten the line but do not remove it.  There are a couple of products on the market to  remove the mineral deposit.  1. Lime away  2. Pumice stone.  I find the lime away only works if you use it regularly on small deposits.  Pumice stone I use about once a month and it keeps the line from forming.  If you can not find it in your hardware store you will find it in the beauty section of the grocery store.  It is used to remove imperfection on the feet.

  4. Lime, rust and mineral deposits... Just use a toilet bowl cleaner with bleach.. drop in tank type

You may want to check inside the tank and make sure the chain or other parts are not rusted

  5. All it is is hardwater build up from the standing water. The Works, from the dollar stores is the BEST I have found.  Squirt it in, let it sit, and swish away.

If the toilet runs during the day, you're wasting water. Get a repair kit, $10, and replace the flapper valve unit.
