  1. Schizophrenia is a mental disorder, there are thoughts that both genetic and environmental conditions cause it - but nobody knows for certain.

You might check out these websites:

    http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publicati...

    http://www.nami.org

    http://www.schizophrenia.ca/files/Rays_o...

    http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/schizop...

They have a lot of very good information on schizophrenia.  The first three websites have booklets in pdf format that you can download and save for future reference.

There is also an excellent book, "Surviving Schizophrenia: A Manual for Families, Patients, and Providers" by E. Fuller Torrey, Fifth Edition.  I know Barnes & Noble has it.  Amazon.com only has the 4th edition.  That is very good reading and tells a lot about schizophrenia.

  2. it is possible for anyone to get it, but i heard that weed can give it to youxx

  3. Studies suggest that genetics, early environment, neurobiology and psychological and social processes are important contributory factors. Current psychiatric research is focused on the role of neurobiology, but no single organic cause has been found. Due to the many possible combinations of symptoms, there is debate about whether the diagnosis represents a single disorder or a number of discrete syndromes. For this reason, Eugen Bleuler termed the disease the schizophrenias (plural) when he coined the name. Despite its etymology, schizophrenia is not synonymous with dissociative identity disorder, previously known as multiple personality disorder or split personality; in popular culture the two are often confused.

  4. The cause of schizophrenia is the brain's inability to filter out incoming stimuli correctly.

You see, every second your brain is being bombarded with thousands and thousands of bits of information coming at you from your environment. What your brain does is filter them out and sort them, then tells you what's real and what isn't. In a person with schizophrenia, their filter isn't working correctly so their brain is telling them that they're hearing voices or seeing things or feeling things that aren't there.

It's possible for anyone to be schizophrenic, but improbable. Usually it runs in the family and you're predisposed to it. I've also seen people that had head injuries that became schizophrenic later on.

  5. some illegal drugs raise the risk of triggering it such as lsd and cannabis

  6. The main causes of schizophrenia is while the mother is pregnant with the child she gets a virus like the stomach virus or any virus.  This increases the likely houd of this disease, and another cause of it is PTSD a major traumatic event that happened in the persons life which makes them paranoid.  The majority of it is cause by a virus while the mother is pregnant with the child.

  7. The actual causes of schizophrenia are still relatively unknown.  Some hypothesize that it is primarily due to environmental factors, such as physical abuse or substance abuse, whereas others believe it is caused by certain chemical changes or bacteria exposures in utero.  There is a fairly strong genetic component to it (found in twin studies), so if you have a parent or grandparent who has been diagnosed, your chances are greater than the average Joe for also being diagnosed.  However, that is not to say that you having the proneness toward the disorder guarantees that you will get it.

Ultimately, yes, it is possible for anyone to have schizophrenia, but people who have the genetic proneness are more likely to have it.  Only about 1 in 100 people actually have it though, so keep that in mind too.
