Question:

What causes some AFL supporters to be so callous & soulless?

Barry Hall kinghits Brent Staker & could have caused very serious injury.

Many threads have appeared in this section & in everyone someone has made such comments as ; Staker was weak; he staged the incident; it was great to see Hall flatten him; how great to see this in the game again; goodonya Barry - it's what we want to see....etc....etc.....

My belief is the ones making these comments have never pulled on a football boot in their lives & would be too scared to actually run onto a ground & confront opposition footballers in the flesh. Yep, they'd be petrified.

Also maybe because WCE have won three flags in recent years & the Victorian fans of bottom dwelling Melbourne based teams get perverse pleasure watching an Eagle player get injured. Jealousy is a curse.

Staker is not a West Aussie - he is from ACT. I just added that for the ones who obviously have a problem with WA teams - one in particular.

  1. Because they are wack Sydney fans who get no love in their own City so how the **** do they expect any respect from the rest of Australia.

  2. Just a marked lack of intelligence, I'd say.

  3. dude it was a legendary punch

    get over it

the eagles were weak not to remonstrate with hall following the incident

yeh sure its coz wce have been successful. its got nothing to do with that. people are gonna continue doing it if it bothers you this much.

  4. born in wa 1975 been a blues fan since i can remember played the game for 20 years  in the sou west, played in 2 different leagues and it was different in both .yes i was a person who thought it was a great hit.  as a player i was always the first to fly the flag when the S**t went down but you have to for your fellow players and had my teeth knocked for it you have to let the other team know you think it was unacceptabe... a couple  of weeks on the side lines was a small price to  pay for doing this ,,, after saying that i go a watch the blues went they come to perth and the wce supporters are the worst supporters out there  the end

  5. They are that way because they have tunnel vision in regard to their views - due mainly to being uneducated in the game.

Some females who respond this way rely solely on emotion when following the game - like many female spectators to the ancient gladiator games.

The males are the ones who can't say, "Been there, done that!" Those who have played the game at a reasonable level don't get enjoyment out of such behaviour. I think they, in their anonymity can make any claim they like - but really, they are the only ones who have any belief in their statements.

  6. Yes it was a good punch you would have to say that.

But it was'nt all barrys falt, yes the punch was and not controlling his temper, but the west coast player had a lot to do with it as well barry gave him a hint to stop holding him when he struggeled and hit him before the punch but oviously the west coast player did not get that hint so barry punched him. This is not a good example for young kids that look up to him but he said he was sorry and would take any punishment west coast gave him.

I have nothing against western australian teams.

  7. Because they support Collingwood

  8. They do it because they can talk tough from behind a computer screen.

Yep, little insignificant folks acting big & tough.

Ignore them because they are not worth bothering with.

  9. No brains . That's what causes them to be like that.

  10. OMG.. yeah that's the reason!?

    I'm a chick and I've played woman's footy..

I'm a swans supporter and I live in WA...

I have a 3day headache from whiners like you..

There are so many incidents like this in AFL..

    GET ON WITH IT!!

No one is picking on you..

West Coast is no more hated than say, Collingwood, (no offence to the pie fans)

And I see no empathy from the perverse people condemning Halls broken wrist...

Hey by the way.. where was Kerr this week gone?.... Oh that's right he was kept to a mere 15possessions by a 20year old Kieren Jack playing only his 6th AFL match...!

I think West Coast Eagles Supporters have more to worry about than Hall and everybody ganging up on them!

  11. You don't win any fans by bagging Victorian supporters and claiming that they applauded Hall because a WA player got hurt.

Barry Hall is a Victorian, from a town you wouldn't send a brown dog into without a police escort, and a lot of us were vastly relieved when he deserted the saints to go north, as he gives this state a bad name.

The sort of people who went to the colosseum to see gladiators murdering each other have descendants - obviously the colosseum fans bred litters of kids, like today's hoons - and they are the ones who cheer brutality, which is not a vital part of AFL. Sydney is used to rugby which is much more blood n guts, so SYDNEY fans may not turn a hair at what Hall did.

Any decent AFL fan deplores what happened to Staker and was relieved that he didn't have a broken jaw, as reported today. Regardless of where he comes from.

  12. They are this way because they all believe World Championship Wrestling & Gladiators is fair dinkum.

They want footy to be the same as those two activities!!!!!

  13. As unnecessary as it was, people haven't really seen anything like that on the footy field in a long time, so it's something different (like when there is a melee, everybody loves a melee). Brings you back to the days of David Rhys Jones, Leigh Mathews, Ted Whitten etc. If an incident like that happened every week it wouldn't be that much of an issue, it'd just be another striking charge at the tribunal.
