  1. they are usually insecure about themselves and so they pick on other poeple or they have agression or they are just mean

    way to many.

  2. Historically, bullying has been considered a crutch for children who are lacking in self esteem. Newer research has showed that many bullies have, instead, an inflated sense of self-worth, bolstered by parents who enable their children by denial of problems (NJ coalition for bully prevention)

I doubt you could get a good number of bullies in each school, since most schools are in denial about their own problems and legitimize bullying by stating that it is a 'right of passage', or that the victim brings it upon himself.

I read recently on BBC that 16 children kill themselves each year in England as a result of bullying, I can't imagine what the number would be in the US if ever studies, population is much higher. Here *are* some numbers

Studies show that between 15-25% of U.S. students are bullied with some frequency ("sometimes or more often") while 15-20% report that they bully others with some frequency.

(Melton et al, 1998; Nansel et al, 2001)

Boys are more likely than girls to bully others.

Girls frequently report being bullied by both boys and girls, but boys are most often bullied only by other boys.

What are the consequences of bullying? Children and youth who are bullied are more likely than other children to be depressed, lonely, anxious; have low self-esteem, feel unwell, and think about suicide.

How aware of bullying are adults? Adults are often unaware of bullying problems. In one study, 70% of teachers believed they intervene "almost always" in bullying situations; only 25% of students agreed with this assessment. (Charach et al, 1995)

  3. It has something to do with home! seriously...bullys are aggressive because they see there parents yelling and fussing...monkey see monkey do...they learn from parents or whoever they live with..how else would he/she know what bullying is? and there are about 5 of them in each school that i see

  4. People become bullies when they have the belief that violence and intimidation are valid ways to get what you want.

Actually, this is not an unusual thought: see how most older siblings will boss or bully their younger siblings...until their parent's stop them. Being a bully is kind of natural: we see it in children and most primate species. But just because something is natural and fits with our most primitive instincts doesn't mean that it is acceptable. All human societies have been teaching that bullying is unacceptable, to some degree or other, for thousands of years. The bullies that remain are those who have been failed by their parents and other adults who should have stopped them. If a parent doesn't teach his or her child, a school has an opportunity to do it...but by not stopping bullies and giving appropriate consequences, many tacitly teach that it is acceptable to get things through force and intimidation.

As for percentages, it varies greatly. Some schools are more tolerant of this kind of behavior (which creates more bullies), others better at preventing bullying (which creates fewer bullies). And some areas have better parenting (or maybe better parenting philosophies) than others.

Please note: I'm ignoring those with real mental illnesses. They aren't true bullies, they are people who are unable to control impulses.

  5. i think these people are missing something in their lives...maybe they don't have everything that other kids have and its a way to keep from getting teased....i bet you can find atleast one in every class room...so of it may be mental issues....it is a horrible thing for a child to do to others....i would hope that when ever this happens it is reported to the school....would be a blessing if we could stop this from ever happening

  6. lack of care at home causes it and there is a small percent like 3 or 4 % in each school
