Question:

What causes speakers to start crackling?

The speakers in my car have begun to crackle underneath the sound of the music I play, especially with lower base tones. I realize that it was because I turned the bass up too high for a stock system (i've turned it all back down now but the problem persists), but what I want to know is what actually has happened to my speakers by me playing the music too loudly. Is what I have done 100% irreversible where I'd have to get a new system to fix the problem or...?

In general, I just want someone to explain a little bit of the inner workings of my car speakers in regards to my situation.

Thanks for any assistance.

  1. A common problem in many car audio installations, especially your first installations. Its most likey not permanent.

  2. that means its busted you need to buy some new ones

  3. usuall when water gets in them!

  4. A loose connection somewhere can do this.  Have a car stereo expert check the wiring.

  5. you've deffinitly blown your speakers.. it could be a few reasons.. one, your radio might push out more power than your speakers can take.. two, they might be not so good speakers.. and three, you could have played music to load.. a good brand to get for base or even voice speakers are kenwood or pioneer.. you dont need a new radio just speakers

  6. You might have fried the speakers when you had the bass up too high.

Once fried, they need to be replaced. If you have a friend who has speakers you could borrow, hook them up to your system and see if they still crackle. You don't have to completely put them in,just connect the speakers externally from their usual location.

If they still crackle, then you have fried your head-unit.

  7. you have blown your speakers you will need new ones its from playing your bass to loud

  8. if your phone goes off right when its crackling its the radiation from yuour phone

  9. They are blown.  This is from turning the volume up too loud.  Go get some new speakers as you cant fix them.  When you do tell the place you want some your stereo cant blow.

  10. You blew your speaker basically you melted a component or you broke it loose but yep its best to just get a new one,

  11. Turning Up Your Music Too Loud.

Or Maybe The Song Has A Really Heavy Bass Sound Or Something Of That Sort.

Trying Lowering It Down. [The Bass I Mean] And See If That Stops The Crackle.

They're Just Like Headphones. If You Play Music Too Loud, They Start Crackling. :]

  12. You more than likely blew the speakers. The only way to fix it is to buy some new ones. You can repair them but it would be easier and cheaper just to buy new ones. They can sound like that if wires are touching but since you said you turned it upall the way they are probably blown.
