I am a first-time tomato grower. My tomatoes are delicious and very sweet, however, the skins are a bit tougher than ought to be. What causes this and what can I do to prevent this in the future? Thanks everyone for your replies.

  2. ??I think it is due to watering. Keep watering the same all the time.Get the old heirloom ( wrong spelling) ?? kinds.

  3. Yes, I have found this with outdoor toms, the hardier varieties do tend to have firmer skins, especially when not harvested whilst young.

  4. Tomatoes bred for shipping or early varieties (grown in cooler climates) naturally have tougher skins. You might try a different variety.

  5. Because they was left on the vibe to long. When they are nice and red and as round as a apple they are ready.
