  1. well a can of baked beans and a hollow room for me.  i'll create rain and thunder.

  2. Thunder is caused by lightening. Lightening super heats the air it travels through causing it to expand rapidly producing a shock wave, which is the sound you hear.

  3. Clouds hitting each other

  4. WEATHER haha lol no its when the cold air mixes with the hot air creates electicity within the cloud. it's also for tornadoes... haha

  5. Thunder is the sound of Lightening.  But since the speed of sound is slower than the speed of light, we have a space between the 2.

  6. Lightning and thunder are the same phenomenon. Lightning is a powerful electrical discharge, either from cloud to cloud, or cloud to ground.

Upon discharging, the atoms and molecules along the path are ionised and heated up to thousands of degrees, this causes the air in the immediate vicinity of the path of the lightning to rapidly expand, which creates a large pressure wave.

A pressure wave is basically what sound is, and since lightning generates a pretty large pressure wave, you get a very loud sound, what we call thunder.

The reason thunder always tends to come after the lightning flash is because more often than not, the lightning happened some distance away, and light travels much faster than sound, and so the flash is visible before you hear the loud crack or boom.

  7. yea its when two or more clouds hit each other
