  1. there is a foliar spray available at nurserys that will help... but be sure to add lime /calcium in some form to the soil this fall so it will be already IN the soil  for the plants you'll grow next year... a different spot, of course.....

  2. It happens to my tomatoe plants when I dont keep them well watered.

  3. Blossom end rot, caused by irregular watering. Discard affested toms.

  4. Is the tomato touching the ground? It could be from contact with the ground, or it could be from bugs eating it.

  5. It's called blossom end rot, here's a link

  6. Blossom-end rot is a common malady of early tomatoes.  It's caused by a calcium deficiency in the soil brought on by irregular watering (too little, too much).

There is no cure for this disease as even greenhouse tomatoes develop this.  Pull off the rotted fruit and let new fruit grow, maintaining regular water and soil temperature.

I add crushed egg shells (and coffee grounds!) directly to the soil of my tomato patch.  Both do wonders to my fruit.
