What causes tomatoes to turn black on the bottom while growing?

  1. Many things can cause this. Them touching the ground,bugs,worms or even the bottom rotting because of wether or watering situations. Nothing you can do about it. Mine have also been doing the same thing.

  3. This could be fusarium fungus. You can treat with a little epsom salts.

  4. This rot you are experiencing is due to uneven watering.........typically.  Also, if the tomatoes touch the ground or cage or another tomato, it'll cause it.  

    Better Homes and Garden has a product called Tomato Rot. You mix the liquid with water and spray the plants.  It helps.

    I've also heard that the soil is lacking something but can't remember if it was nitrogen or what.  I know it was caused mostly by inconsistant watering.
