What causes water level to go down?

Every year my family goes to Lake Shasta and last year the water went down A LOT! Why does this happen? Please ask God to put more water in!

  1. Three things determine water level of a lake:

    1. Inflow - mostly rainfall and water from tributaries

    2. Evaporation - greatest in hot weather

    3. Outlflow - streams and human consumption

    If the total of 2 and 3 are greater than 1, the lake level will go down!


  2. Improper recycling of rain water and daily used water.
