  1. Wind is caused by air flowing from high pressure to low pressure.

  2. Air that's heated by the sun rises as cooler air rushes in to replace it. As the heated air cools, it falls again, and the air that was previously cooler rises - sort of a system of convection currents. I've also heard wind is caused by the movement of air from high to low pressure areas.

  3. Good question.

Wind is the flow of air or other gases that compose an atmosphere; since wind is not unique to Earth. It occurs as air is heated by the Sun and thus rises. Cool air then rushes to occupy the area from which the hot air has now moved. It could be loosely classed as a convection current.

  4. Wind is a movement of air. we generally think of winds as currents of air which flow across the Earth's surface. but there are also upward and downward currents of air in the atmosphere and powerful Jet Streams which blow in the upper Troposphere and lower Stratosphere.

  5. temperature changes, between water, land, land, mountains, mountains, water, clouds, land, etc

  6. Sunlight strikes the earth's surface and it heats the air above, producing pressure differences. In an attempt to equalize these differences, the atmosphere responds by moving masses of air, which causes the wind.

  7. Evolutionists wouldn't like the answer.

    Something to think about.

Have you ever heard of the Biosphere, in Arizona?

This was an enclosed structure which was built to be entirely self sufficient to support life.

Several men and women occupied this for more than a year, with no outside food or water.  All was produced in the enclosure.

    (Not positive of the time)

Tree saplings were part of the vegetation which grew to some height during that time.

    An unknown phenomena occurred.

The tree trunks began to snap and break.

Further study had shown that the trees had broken because there was NO WIND in the Biosphere.

The trees had not gained sufficient strength to withstand their own weight.

Draw your own conclusions about creation of wind and it's purposes.  The scientific conditions that produce wind and weather is a study of it's own, but, something has to produce those condidtions.  EH?

  8. When God releases his flatulance, which happens to not smell like any other human f**t, it will sink down into the part of the OZone layer we all currently live in. This "wind" factor simply depends on where God decides to rest his rump and cropdust us with his Godly Gas.

  9. Horizontal flow of air(wind) is mainly caused by pressure gradient.Vertical movement if air, like convection current and air sinking over a high pressure area are part of a wind circulation and are  caused by buoyancy and gravity.Updrafts  and downdrafts in a thunder storm and mountain winds like katabatic winds and anabatic winds are also influenced by gravity and buoyancy.

  10. Wind is caused by the movement of air from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure.  Due to the coriolis effect, the air doesn't move directly toward an area of low pressure or away from an area of high pressure, but rather at an angle.  This is why when you get regions of extremely low pressure it can generate hurricanes.  In the northern hemisphere the winds flow clockwise around a high and counter-clockwise around a low.  In the southern hemisphere it is the other way.    Buys-Ballots law states that for the northern hemisphere if you stand with the wind at your back then the area of low pressure is on your left.  In the southern hemisphere the area of low pressure would be on your right.

  11. The earth and all of its components moving.

  12. The rotation of the earth for starters...  then other forces act upon those winds... read below for more info...

  13. basically, hot and cold don't like each other and causes wind.  sorry for the really dummed down answer.

  14. Earth heats up where the sun is shining. Also heats up the water, but at a different rate.

Air heats up, rises and tries to find a place to go.

Rotation of the Earth means that its cooling and warming constantly in different places.

  15. The hot air below is heated by the sun then rise(heat rises).  Then the cold air above RUSHES downward to take the hot airs place.  Well, wind is moving air.

  16. Wind is only an element of weather.Wind is the movement of air from an area of high pressure to an area of low pressure.

Weather is a summation of elements like temperature, wind, light, precipitation etc.

...by the way the oftentimes foul air that bolts from the pressurised r****m to the less pressurised open air is also described as wind.

  17. BEANS OF COURSE.
