  1. Are you baking loaf? Do double check the ingredients amount or recipe.

  2. Old and outdated or

the water was too hot or

    the water wasn't warm enough

    or not enough sugar.

  3. That has happened to me when I've used water that was a little too hot, which killed the yeast. The water should be lukewarm and enough sugar for the yeast to munch on..

  4. there could be several reasons your yeast might not rise because it could be too old, your water you mix it with is either too cold or too hot or if you are female it won't rise if you are on a period.

  5. In addition to what the others have said, don't let the salt touch the yeast  when you first add them. Make sure you have some flour or other ingredients between the two.- salt will kill yeast.

  6. too hot of liquids killed it

    too much salt retards it

no food to feed it (sugar)

    old and just inactive.

  7. It's either old you you killed the yeast with hot water

  8. It could be old. It will expire

  9. Most basic is it's too old;-{ check the expiry date.

It might also be killed by freezing or heating; check temperature.

You might not have enough sugar to feed it.
