What causes your taste buds to swell?

once in a great while a taste bud will swell and get sensitive. does anybody know what causes this, my friends all get them too but no one knows!

Hi...Well now you have ask the 64 dollar question and the answer is..."several things can cause the taste buds to swell"..it can be a reaction to over acidity in your system, it can be a reaction to chewing on a food with a rough surface or it might be you played suck face with a close friend who had a chipped tooth or maybe even braces....OR, maybe you have a tooth that is chipped and the sharp surface snagged the tongue....Take your pick, you know which fits your issues and list of possibilities.....Good luck and I wish you well.
