What cellphone should I get for the UK?

I have a Sprint service Palm Centro. I'm getting out of my Sprint contract, but can I use the phone on any service that will work in the UK? Im relocating for grad school.

Sorry but the answer is no, your Sprint phone will not work in the UK. Sprint phones are CDMA, the UK works on GSM.

Your best bet is to ebay the Sprint phone before you leave, then purchase a UNLOCKED GSM quadband phone. Purchasing a phone in the US will be cheaper then if you purchase it in the UK due to the exchange rate. Once in the UK, you can then get a pre-pay sim, pop it into your phone and you are good to go.

All the UK providers offer good coverage, just depends on where you will be located (as it does here)

I would look into the T-mobile UK PAYG sim

15p a minute to call any number in the UK and you can add the North American calling option (I beleive its a free add-on) so calls back to North America are only 10p a minute. Remember, in the UK, all incoming calls are free
