What cenotes should we see south of Cancun?

We will be in Cancun and want to rent a car and drive south to snorkel in some cenotes. Which ones are the best?

We want to see really beautiful ones, but easy enough to get to, with restroom facilities, open to the public, and not too expensive. We are renting a car and driving down. Is this safe? My husband was born in Mexico (although he is American) and speaks Spanish, so Im not worried about getting around. But how safe is it in this area?

  1. Since your husband knows the language and born in Mexico, you will be good to go renting a car and being safe. Just make sure you take out the mexican car insurance.

Puerto Morelos is the place to go snorkeling. Here are some links to research.

  2. I can assure you that the zone is very safe ;)

I don't know alot of cenotes at the south of Cancún not to expensive, I must say that almost all that part (riviera maya) is a bit expensive. This Xel-ha and  Xcaret are ecological parks where you can dive and have a great time, as I said both are expensive, jeje well at least for me, I you want to go more to the south I strongly recomend the Sian Kaan reserve, ther you can find cheap accomodation and activities, but its a bit far. If you go to the north you may go to a near reserve known as Holbox where you can dive with some whale sharks. Below I will let you a few links ;) Have a nice saty here at mexico =D
