Hello Yahoo-ers!

I am interested in the types of charities you like to support. How do you support them? Badges, lapels or donations etc. I like donating and supporting the Leukaemia Foundation, Heart Foundation, Red Cross, Guide Dogs and Legacy Foundation. My hair was brightly coloured today for Leukaemia Foundation (Shave for a Cure). I helped organise the event and raise money through my school by holding a fluoro and bright colour free dress day. So what do you like to do and who do you support?

  1. Why did you "brightly colour" your hair for the "Shave for a Cure" event? Why didn't you "shave for a cure" like the event says? Don't you want leukaemia cured?

ADDED: Take ease, pumpkin. I was just having a bit of fun because your phrasing struck me as a bit funny. Cheers to you for participating and trying to help.

  2. My fav:

    American Foundation for Disabled Children

  3. I support kiva.org.  It's an organization that makes small business loans to women in developing countries so they have the means to start a business in order to be able to feed and house their families.  The loans are interest-free and are paid back in 18 months.  At the end of the loan term you can have your money back if you like, or reinvest it in someone else.  You can choose a specific person, or just let them choose for you.  You don't have to donate the whole amount of the loan.  You can just donate a small portion, like $25 and kiva.org will pool your money with others' to make the loan.

It's cool.  It makes me feel happy to know that somewhere out there is a struggling woman who's maybe keeping her family alive because of me.  It's that "one person can make a difference," thing.

  4. Homeless Shelters, Soup Kitchens, Drug and Alcohol Rehabs
