What chemical property of Tea-Tree oil makes it such an effective anti-microbal?

Used it in my biology coursework along with honey and lemon grass, for the citronella oil, as a natural anti-microbial but i am unsure as to how it actually works

  1. The main chemical components of tea tree oil (also referred to as ti-tree oil) are a-pinene, b-pinene, sabinene, myrcene, a-phellandrene, a-terpinene, limonene, 1,8-cineole, y-terpinene, p-cymene, terpinolene, linalool, terpinen-4-ol and a-terpineol.
