  1. could it be a drager tube?? doesnt completely make sense with your description.....but drager tubes are the best out of the lot...or my tool (cant disclose it as i implemented it in my last job....

    edit: the two apparatussess i mentioned are density independant....but there is a setup using measuring cylenders and water that is density dependant....but they are not very good...what level are you doing this for?
