Question:

What child development center (day care) names turn you off?

I'm thinking of a name for a new child development center. A buddy of mine suggest me not use anything like "children's world" and "Kiddieland" etc. since they are overused and a bit of a turn off now. Can you share any other center names that would be a turn off to you as a parent or a passer-by so I'll know which direction NOT to go?

  1. wee world, the childrens place, i cant think of any more

but i recommend that you have learning in the title  that really gets parents intrested, take away from love and play and be focused on education and learning. thats what parents really want.. i work at a childrens learning lab at a college and i think its the best day care.

it totally focuses on aspects of child development.

  2. The Bad: Fun World, h***s angels, neverland learning center

    The Good: The Thinking cap

  3. Don't use anything remotely religious or ethnic sounding, as it may turn off those that are not religious or they may think are certain race will be favored. Such as :Immanuel Care, or the Sanchez House.

Try something that sounds less fun and more educational. For some reason: education station caomes to mind (Though that may already be taken), but something along those lines would be appealing to most mothers.

  4. we had a "Vicktoria's Playhouse" in a really 'seedy' part of town. It is now closed, but I thought it was an 'adult' place. You couldn't see anything that looked 'kid friendly' from the street. Find something catchy for your area. Like 'Our Little Schoolhouse' with an old-timey school days theme out front.

  5. tiny steps

  6. I think you should just use your name.  I don't care for kindercare, children's world, knowledge learning years, big apple, care for all ages, family living childcare, playmate, they are all too typical.  Try something a lot of centers don't have, a real name.  No toys, foods, no huge promises, just be simple.  Be you.

  7. Some in are area are called Bright Futures, Little Learning Center, Bright Beginnings, Teddy Bear Daycare, Lil Bo Peep Daycare, Belles and Bo's

I really don't think it matters what the name is just something catchy and easy to remember. When I was looking for daycare I really didn't care about the name or anything I went there and watched their interaction with the other kids

  8. I used to work at a daycare called "Children's Playpen" I always thought it sounded like a cage of some sort :(

  9. Don't use anything like KidKare.. misspelling anything, whether it's purposeful or not, is a major turnoff. Also, try to stay away from anything that rhymes too much, or that's much too cutesy.

Just be creative and use something proffesional. Good luck!

  10. I absolutely agrees that anything "kiddie" is out! Mainly due to the fact CHILDREN are not "kids"; animals are kids.

I would like to suggest some catchy ideas such as:

    Little Einsteins learning center

    The  ABC's & 123's learning center

    The Learning Tree

    Leaps & Bounds Learning center

    Building Blocks Learning Center

I would also consider logos and catchy sayings that can go with the name of your center; for example..."Building Blocks Learning Center...A foundation for your child to grow on!"

As a parent and ex-home daycare provider I wish you much success in the future of your business! :  )

  11. good i say
