  1. If you've never been to Italy, you could hit the big three tourist destinations Rome, Florence, Venice and have time for a day trip from one or more of them. It would be hard to pick a bad place to visit here though - it really depends on your interest and when you'll be here.

You can use each of the three cities as a base for interesting day trips using the train system. From Venice, Padova, Verona, and Treviso are all interesting and worth visiting.

From Florence, you could go to Pisa to see the Leaning Tower and then take the train another 20 minutes to Lucca for the rest of the day. Siena is a very interesting place to visit and an easy trip by bus or train. San Gimignano is another place worth a visit. Arezzo also has an interesting old town.

From Rome, you can easily get to Pompeii, Capri, Orvieto, Tivoli (see Villa Adriana and Villa d'Este), Antica Ostia or other locations. You could also stay in Naples for Capri, Pompeii, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast.

Cinque Terre is an interesting destination, but takes a little more effort to do as a day trip.

Two days in Venice, three in Florence and the remainder in Rome would be a good mix.

You can do all of your travel within Italy using the train system. The Italian website is useful for planning schedules and prices and you can pre-book tickets if you want. http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html

  2. i think you should visit rimini, expecially in summer. it's very famous for nightlife, discos and beaches. in summer i work on the beach so i know how it is

  4. 4 days in Rome, 3 days in Florence, 3 days Venice. In those cities you can see most of Italy's cultural stuff like art and monuments plus they have great night life, and of course food! You can reach them very easily by train.

  5. 3 days in Rome & 3 days in Florence.

South- go to Amalfi Coast for 3 days. Stay in Sorrento, and take a boat ride to Positano for the day.

Venice is so far north that you will lose 2 days of vacation days just in traveling there. Venice is ok, but Sorrento and Positano are so much better!
