What city in france should we live?

coming from america, what city in france would you recommend to live?

Paris has the hustle-bustle that a big city brings,

Marseille and Cannes are more expensive but has the sun,

Depends what your after-France pretty much has it all,

Mabey La Rochelle-mid way down on the Atlantic coast is beautifull or choose the Alps if you like to ski.

It really depends on the criteria that you're going by. Paris is by far the largest city in the country, and of course has a far larger number of American expatriates than any other city in France. The south has the sunniest weather, on the other hand. Montpellier and Toulouse have both experienced rapid population growth in recent years, which from what I gather is due to their dynamic economies (compared to most other parts of the country, for instance). Toulouse is apparently the fastest-growing metropolitan area in Europe, for that matter: "With 1,117,000 inhabitants in 2007, the Toulouse metropolitan area is the fifth-largest in France and the fastest growing in Europe." Have you considered contacting American Presence Posts (essentially American Consulates)? (Not to ask them "where should I live", so much as for information about the number of Americans in the area, jobs, international schools, etc. It couldn't hurt.

I would also reccomend Paris but you need to understand that it is a bigger and more complex city with a higher population.
