  1. most big cities.

    Austin TX is a good example. the poor neighborhoods are being bought out by young professionals because the houses and taxes are cheap and the zoning is a bit flexible because they want the neighborhoods cleaned up. because of this the poorer residents are being pushed out of the neighborhood because with a rise in home buying and a rise in home improvement and neighborhood improvement comes a rise in home value which results in a rise in property taxes and the poor residents can not afford their taxes are are forced out.

    that's why Austin is a good example of gentrification.

Chicago - if you watch HGTV (like all the shows about buying new houses) you see the area is going through "revitalization."  This means that the typically poor or run down areas are being bought out, rebuilt, and resold for huge prices.  Of course this comes at an expense - once the poor are ousted and can't afford to buy back their newly redone places, where do they go?

  3. Washington dc I live in Maryland and prince georges county is seeing a lot of former dc residents from the contruction of the new stadium
