  1. I agree with the person above Adelaide has all of the above and is a lot cheaper city to live in.

  2. Actaully neither is better than the other it just depends on what you like. I found Adelaide a very quiet laid back lifestyle, but everything seemed to shut early but that was a couple of years ago.Sydney has a more hectic lifestyle in the suburbs close to the City so if you are young and like to go out a lot Sydney offers more for the young.Prices seem much the same Food etc and with the Clubs offer entertainment to suit all.Rental accomadation in Sydney is scarce so make sure you have somewhere to stay before you come. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

  3. I have lived inboth cities.

Sydney more expensive but the pay compensates for that, clubs and shopping is great i lived in Bondi, 2 bed flat $300 per week, 10 min walk to bondi beach.  Great Markets, china town. Clubs massive. Food spots ot as good as adelaide. I prefer the easten suburbs, Bondi (favourite) coogee great beach place cheaper rent but a bit of a mission to get into city, maybe 2 buses. Bondi has a massive shopping complex, 1 bus to city or train 8 mins.

Adelaide has the best eating places to dine out in Australia as i have just read this in the paper, and i must admit it is pretty good selection.  Club life is huge there, easy to get around the city central all layed out in a grid, get the tram to glenelg beach from the city about 10-15 mins.

Plenty of work but not as much pay, but i always name what i expect to earn no matter where i live, that way they think your pretty good anyway. Adelaide is more country and i really loved it there but Bondi yes for me and a great place if your young and still adventorous, but not to settle in as too dear and houses to buy are over the top. Settle in Adelaide if that's the future.

Have fun, flaming galah! haha.. onya mate.

  4. I'm from Sydney and I find everything's expensive and the problem is just worsening.

Adelaide, I know, is the cheapest major capital city you can live in. The average housing prices at around half of Sydney's and two-thirds of Melbourne's. However, the weather there isn't good since the city lies on a very dry part of Australia. Temperatures can easily reach over 40 in summer. Sydney, on the other hand, has mild weather.

Adelaide is also way quieter than Sydney without much places to visit - this will be a problem if you like many things to see and do.

I hope this helps and good luck.

  5. Adelaide has all of the above.

  6. your in luck. im a property manager in sydney dealing with rentals all the time. from your description it looks like sydney would be more suitable for your lifestyle. plently shopping. plenty of night clubs in the city. as for rental prices, people are right they are very high and also the biggest killer is there are not many rental properties out their, shortage in the market. but still heaps of people looking, meaning that everyone is out bidding each other for places thefore increaseing the over all price of rentals. unfortunatly its gonna be like this for the next 3-4 yrs. the closer you are in the city the worse it is. you will be bored in adelaide! give me a buzz if u need more info

  7. i have recently moved to Sydney - and I love it.  The shopping is fantastic and the night life is awesome too.

It really depends on what you are in to.

I have found the most important thing is knowing where to live.  It took me a few times to find somewhere I liked!  I would recommend the eastern suburbs, inner west for younger people!

It really is a great and fun city.

  8. Both cities have what you are looking for, however there are more opportunities for work in Sydney and the wages are higher. There is a lot of competition for property rentals in Sydney and you will need to have references of rental history and current employment to be accepted for a rental property wherever you choose to live.

  9. Adelaide is a nice place, but for a young person who likes shopping and night life, I'd have to suggest Sydney. Sydney is expensive, there's no doubt about that, but as you've looked into that and don't think it's too bad then go for it. As far as nice is concerned, Adelaide is nice but Sydney is beautiful and exciting and the climate is better too.
