What city or town would you recommend?

I am looking to move either in Texas, North Carolina or South Carolina. I want to live somewhere where there are some outdoor activies and festivals and private enough to stay indoors and do nothing. A city or town that has some shopping centers/malls but not too crowded. I currently live in Miami, FL. So if you have ever been something similar but the homes are farther apart much farther and more scenic. I don't care for beaches. Lakes, Rivers would be nice. What city or town would you recommend in Texas, North Carolina or South Carolina?

Raleigh/Durham (Falls Lake). Greensboro. Those are your best options in NC given your criteria

I had to leave Atlanta. Toomuch going on I just wanted to be somewhere peaceful. That wasnt too small though. That had Walmarts, malls, shopping centers, and like you said nice outdoor activities.Like parades that were easily accessible.I mean they moight have a parade in Atl but what it took to get there and see it was ridiculous as far as traffic and parking fees. Same with carnivals.Anyways Id try Columbia SC.

Washington NC is also beautiful and inexpensive.

Try New Bern, NC.  It has a small shopping area, and a cute little downtown area.  It is right on a large river, that is beautiful.  If you are into golfing, there are a lot of golf courses there.  It also isn't to far to the beach, if you decide you want to go.  If you want something a little bigger than New Bern...try just outside of Wilmington.  It's a bit busier, but is a nice area as well.
